Description

This artwork was quite the process.  The recent episodes of "The Legend of Korra" really inspired me to make it.  I thought it would be cool to do an artwork of Wan's Statue at the Air Temple, but have it be the actual scene it was carved to represent.  I really like how Raava, the great spirit of light, was wrapping her arms and tail around him.  I also like how all the Lion Turtles have different symbols on their heads and I wanted to do an artwork that included all of them. I finally decided to combine the artwork ideas into one, and it fit so well. In the process of doing this artwork I noticed it was not just the symbols, but the Lion Turtles have different eye colors and skin colors.  Each one is more unique than one might think.  Of course I marked the different turtles with the elements' symbols (written in Ancient Chinese Bone Script).  And on the bottom it says "Avatar", just as it is written in "Avatar: The Last Airbender".

Note: I drew this on a parchment print page in pencil at first, and it came out real good.  I than colored it all in on the computer using Photoshop.  I realized during the process, that if I had just copied the turtle heads instead of coloring them all individually I could have saved myself a couple hours of work.  But since I already used a parchment surface at the beginning, I could not cut any corners.  I am glad to have this finished, it was in my mind for over a week before I even started.

Edit (4/2/2020): The blue on Raava was not entirely filled in behind Wan's head. I fixed it and I updated it.
